    50¢ Stamps and No Saturday Deliveries?

    If the United States Postal Service has its way, the price of a First Class stamp will rise to 50 cents and Saturday deliveries will be a thing of the past. The agency asked Congress for the 11 percent postage increase and the delivery schedule change as part of a strategy to avoid annual losses that could come to $18.2 billion a year by 2015.

    USPS submitted the changes, as well as others it hopes to make part of its operations, to Congress on Feb. 17 as part of an update to its five-year business plan and in a separate letter that it sent to lawmakers.
